Helping Afghan Refugees in the Bay
You are invited to a special fundraiser that Manny’s, my community event space in San Francisco, is throwing to raise funds for Afghan refugee resettlement in the Bay Area. To recognize the role that many Afghans played in the U.S. effort in Afghanistan, the event will be this Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, from 5 to 8pm.
This is personal to me.
I’m Afghan–and my heart is broken over the situation in the country of my father’s birth.
There is something we can actually do about the situation in Afghanistan. We can welcome these refugees into our part of the world and do it properly.
It will also be a fun night, no doubt–with live Afghan music, Afghan dance performance, food, art, and community!
We’ll also have a presentation on the work currently being done to resettle refugees from two organizations on the front lines: JFCS East Bay and the Afghan Coalition.
The link for the event is here.
I hope you’ll attend and, even if you can’t, donate to support the effort.
