SUPPORTING OUR
JEWISH COMMUNITY
The East Bay Jewish Community Safety Net is a foundational service of JFCS East Bay, now and for almost 150 years. With your help, we will continue to be there for our East Bay Jewish community today when help is needed most.
Last year, over 100 Jewish community members from across the East Bay came to us with urgent emergency requests for help with basic needs, such as food, rent, utilities, medical bills, home care, and transportation. We were only able to assist 50 people with counseling, resource navigation, and one-time cash support before our financial assistance ran out. That’s not good enough. Together, we can make sure no one in our community is turned away from care.
PROVIDE A SAFETY NET TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY
- $3,600 assists a family with rent during a period of unemployment.
- $1,800 provides four hours of supportive counseling and resource navigation for three people.
- $360 provides 15 meals hand delivered to homebound older adults.
- $180 helps to pay for four medical prescriptions.
SUPPORTING OUR
BROADER COMMUNITY
We’re committed to stabilizing families, promoting emotional wellness, providing legal support, helping older adults age in place, and welcoming refugees. You can support our whole community by making an unrestricted gift that reflects your values. When funding is flexible, we build stability across all programs. Please consider an unrestricted donation to JFCS East Bay to support newly arriving immigrants and refugees, older adults, families with children and more!
PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR OUR COMMUNITY
- $3,600 helps a newly arrived immigrant family secure stable housing during their first months in the U.S.
- $1,800 provides critical mental health counseling and resource navigation for families adjusting to life in a new country.
- $360 ensures older adults receive home-delivered meals and wellness check-ins, helping them age in place with dignity.
- $180 supports families with children by covering essential medical prescriptions for those facing financial hardship.
Take Action
Did you know the U.S. government only funds 90 days of case management for new refugees? That’s a very short time to secure housing, healthcare, schooling, and navigate a new life. You can help by urging Governor Newsom to sign SB 85, extending resettlement services to 180 days. Sign here to show your support!
Meanwhile, JFCS East Bay goes beyond 90 days, raising funds to provide extended care, ESL tutoring, job training, legal aid, and trauma counseling to refugees.
