Holiday Giving Program


Every December, JFCS East Bay’s Holiday Giving Program matches refugee and low-income families with giving groups throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We focus on providing both gifts and necessities for these vulnerable families. Our staff members work with their client families to develop personalized wish lists, which often include toys and books alongside basics such as socks, pajamas, towels, kitchen items, and so on.

Each year, about 170 families in need receive a gift delivery. Giving groups can be individual families, scout troops, school classrooms, company employees, groups of families, chavurah, and so forth. Each giving group is provided with the wish list, specifying clothing sizes and other pieces of information, as well as detailed instructions for wrapping and delivery.

The Holiday Giving Program is an amazing event to be part of. For families who are new to country or who have been struggling financially, the generosity of strangers shown through this gift giving is truly moving and deeply appreciated.
