Staff Profile: Gennady Mikityansky, Bilingual Social Worker, Adult Services
At JFCS East Bay, we are fortunate to have a team of dedicated and passionate individuals who go above and beyond to support our community. One such remarkable team member is Gennady Mikityansky, a bilingual social worker in our Adult Services department. Known to many as Gena, he has become an integral part of our organization, especially cherished by our Russian-speaking participants.
Gennady plays a crucial role in enriching the lives of our participants through his multifaceted approach to social work. His regular lectures, conducted via Zoom, cover a diverse range of topics, including current events, historical insights, and general knowledge. These sessions not only provide valuable information but also stimulate cognitive engagement and foster a sense of community among participants. Gennady’s ability to present complex subjects in an engaging and accessible manner has made his lectures a highlight for many.
Beyond his informative lectures, Gennady is instrumental in organizing special events and excursions that bring joy and connectivity to our community. One notable event was the picnic at the Lafayette Reservoir, which he helped organize. The picnic was a delightful day filled with music, socializing, and delicious food, providing a wonderful opportunity for participants to bond and enjoy the outdoors.
Gennady’s contributions extend to promoting physical and mental well-being among our participants. He offers tai chi and dance lessons, encouraging physical activity in a fun and engaging way. These sessions are not only beneficial for health but also enhance the overall well-being of participants, fostering a sense of camaraderie and connection. At times, Gennady has worked with clients with neurological disorders and other disabilities, making accommodations for them to participate.
Gennady’s dedication to his work is evident in the positive impact he has on our community. His genuine care for the participants, combined with his ability to deliver enriching content and organize meaningful activities, makes him a standout member of our team. His efforts have significantly contributed to creating a vibrant, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment for our Russian-speaking participants.
