Welcoming the Stranger

JFCS East Bay’s Sarah Cleveland to Speak at Upcoming Immigration Webinar

At JFCS East Bay, our work with immigrants and refugees is rooted in a deep commitment to dignity, safety, and inclusion. These are not only guiding principles of our organization—they are core Jewish values.

On Tuesday, August 12 at 4:30 p.m., JCRC Bay Area will host Welcoming the Stranger: Jewish Teachings and Community Action in Support of Immigrants, a timely and important conversation on immigration policy, Jewish values, and meaningful ways our community can take action.

We are honored that Sarah Cleveland, our Managing Attorney of Immigration Legal Services, will represent JFCS East Bay as a featured speaker. Sarah will share insights from her extensive work providing legal support to immigrants and refugees in our community, and offer perspectives on how current policies are shaping the lives of those we serve.

The program will also feature:

  • Senator Jesse Arreguín and Assemblymember Gail Pellerin, who will discuss key immigration-related legislation in California.

  • Rabbi Sarah Bassin, HIAS’ Rabbi in Residence, who will explore Jewish teachings and our communal responsibility to immigrants.

  • Representatives from PACT, offering ways to engage with Rapid Response Networks.

We hope you will join us for this important conversation—and leave with both the inspiration and the tools to make a difference.

Date: Tuesday, August 12
Time: 4:30 p.m.
